MISTI Roundup 10-21-22 : All about the fair!

Even without a ferris wheel, this will still be a fair to remember!

Details:

12-1:30pm in the Kresge Lobby. Please arrive to Kresge by 11:30 where lunch will be provided.

Overview:

Make sure to wear your MISTI shirt and/or jacket and provide one for any student attendee. This is a tabling event mixed with a poster session. We are luring them with fun, entrancing them with amazing student stories, and connecting with them via conversations with our charming PMs. You will not have to stand near the poster or regional table; you are free to circulate as you wish.

Regional tables: decorations and handouts

Each regional table will have some general MISTI swag and information on it as well as signage. However, you may want to bring program-specific handouts, swag, or some fun décor. The tables are: Europe & Eurasia, Asia & Oceania, Africa & the Middle East, Latin America

Invited performers:

Some of you have already invited student groups to perform/practice during the event. While we do not have access to the entire oval, groups are welcome to use the brick area outside in front of the lobby. If you have students who you think would like to participate, please share their contact info with Amanda.

Attractions:

  • 26 student experience posters over 16 screens – Posters will rotate, but can also be manually changed

Bet your autumn dollar that it’s finally boot weather!

GTL Applications

We have received over 780 applications! The final list will be provided to managers on Monday.

Student Reports

All reports are being forwarded to each PM. If you have more than 3 reports for your program, please select your favorites for us to update your microsite. Keep reminding your students to complete the typeform.

The Fair is a GO!

The MIT GO Fair is set for Tuesday, October 25 at Kresge! Please plan to attend from 11am-3pm to include setup and takedown time.

Each program needs to choose a student to feature, preferably choose a student who has submitted a typeform report and who will be able to attend the event. Comm will create a digital poster outlining each project. Please reach out to your students and email comm with your selections. Feel free to share your thoughts about food, fun, and other activities for the fair on the MIT GO Slack Channel.

Pop-ups

Our happenings page has been getting a lot of attention, so please keep sharing your pop-up events! Also, comm is making a “go bag” of the following items for programs to take to their events if they choose: MISTI rollup banner, MIT GO stickers, and MIT GO simple informational postcards.

Alumni Recommendations

Don’t forget that you need to recommend an alumnus (or three) for us to research and potentially interview. Keep the impact areas in mind!

MISTI Kitchen

Please do your part to help keep the MISTI kitchen area clean. Don’t leave dishes in the sink/countertop area and remember to take your food from the mini-fridge.

Study Abroad Deadline

Don’t forget the spring deadline is October 15!

MISTI Roundup: 7-27-22

Your photos and videos have been so great, I would think you are all named Art. Please keep sharing with us! It has been a great driver of summer content.

Fall Planning – 8/2 at 10 am via Zoom

Believe it or not, it is time to think about fall! I will share the communications plan for fall and the timeline of decisions everyone needs to make. We will discuss program needs, and MISTI’s involvement in the Career Fair, and confirm the cross-MISTI events/deadlines. Hit the slack channel for some pre-game brainstorming and to share your thoughts afterward. We will utilize that space to collaborate as we countdown to MIT GO!

Academic Expo – 8/31, 3-4:30pm

Remember, everyone is expected to represent MISTI at the Expo. If you are unable to attend, it is important that you speak with April directly.
